Beauty in the streets of Penang, Malaysia

Beauty in PenangStreet art, Clan Jetty’s, and old mansions

I thought that my first ever post on this blog would be me writing about my first insanely awesome massage that I got upon arriving in Malaysia, but it actually kinda sucked, so I won’t be writing about it. This blog is about my travels, beauty, and relaxation…so my bored, belching massage therapist from Penang Malaysia will go un-named and un-recognized for now :)

This short post is just me raving about the beauty to be found in the old streets of George Town in Penang, Malaysia. This gem of a town is nicknamed the “Pearl of the Orient” and it was Britain’s first settlement in Asia.

A blend of old colonial influence and cultural diversity (Chinese, Malay, and Indian all predominating) are enough to make sightseeing and eating quite a worldly experience! Bright paint, recent outcroppings of street art (thanks to Lithuanian artist Earnest Zacharevic), and an assortment of Buddhist and Hindu temples leave very little to be desired.

Even though my massage didn’t have a happy ending (not that kind your pervert!), I love it here and would highly recommend a visit if you find yourself in SE Asia any time soon!

Need a recommendation for a fantastic place to stay directly in Georgetown? Check out Pedal Inn! The owner Steven is kind, knowledgable and more than willing to bend over backwards to make sure you see, do and eat the BEST in Penang! Where next?

We are off to Langkawi island, Malaysia…stay tuned for updates!
